Wanting things and actions

欲しい expresses wanting a thing; たい attaches to the ます-stem for wanting to do something. たい conjugates like an い-adjective: たくない, たかった. Use these primarily for your own wants or questions to the listener. They do not automatically express another person's private feelings as fact.
